Here's the new review on Zaphod Zombie:
I thought it was a hilarious book. I didn't have the highest hopes for it as it was a free download, but I spend a good amount of time cracking up over the character and the things that came out of their mouths.
It's not a terribly deep book, but if you are looking for a book to read at the pool/beach/park/lunchbreak this is not a bad choice at all.

Check out the product page here on Hobrawrong.com for a roundup of reviews and hit up Amazon.com for a download and to leave your own review! And something I forgot to mention in the video: if you're international, Amazon isn't price-matching and offering the book for free. Try my Lulu.com page for a free download of a generic epub file. And if that doesn't work for you, shoot me an email and I'll send you a PDF or something.

Visual proof that "Zaphod Zombie: Living Impaired Among the Unimpaired Living" was ranked #27 on the Free Humor Bestseller list on Amazon.com. In fact, I'll take a wild stab and say that my book is the top zombie comedy on the Humor Bestseller list. It looks like there's a ghost and a ghostly-possession book ahead of it, but Zaphod seems to be the only zombie.
And THAT is cool.

Two notes: first, Slacktive finally responded to my email shortly after I had recorded this video. He's alive and I can now stop the obsessive worrying. Just thought you'd like to know.
Secondly, as you'll hear in the video, I came up with an idea for a blog yesterday. I think it's a good idea and a good way to exercise the creative muscles. The more I think about it, though, the more I think it DOESN'T need it's own website. So I'll probably be setting it up right here, on a sub-blog or something. At the same time, I'll probably resurrect the Zombie Blog that no one remembers. Get it? Resurrect the zombie blog? Right? Yeah?
Nevermind. Watch the video.
.... just got officially-official with the new cover. Zaphod Zombie: Living Impaired Among the Unimpaired Living has also cleared 600 downloads on Amazon.com! Whoo-hoo!
Zaphod Zombie is the story about a fella just trying to make it through life. Only he's a zombie. And his life is more of an unlife. And the world around him is SUPER prejudice against the undead. It ain't easy being green OR a zombie.

Lowe's (the home improvement store) has been running a fun and effective ad campaign in the past few months. The commercials are whimsical, magical, and always feature super effective songs.
And then they released "Fresh Cut Grass", which is the basis of my video above. (Along with "Fresh", the above video also includes a few shots from "Don't Stop"). Again, the music choice is great, but the creepy green aurora that lifts unsuspecting suburbanites out of their beds is just, well, creepy.
Since all the commercial was missing was proper music selection, I decided to fix that. It's been bugging me for a while, and I'm glad it's finally done. Hopefully, Lowe's has a good sense of humor about it. Maybe they SHOULD get into the summer blockbuster business?
As you may or may not know, Zaphod Zombie -- the story of a zombie named Zaphod, natch -- is free as in beer. In the past week, it's racked up over 400 downloads on Amazon alone. That's pretty cool. For a good while, it's been happily playing in the top 50 of the Humor category of the Kindle Library. That's even better.
There's been a handful of great reviews (which I generally aggregate on the product page here on this site) but there's also been a notable review on Barnes & Noble (where the book is ALSO free -- it's free everywhere. Cause that's how I roll).
"I am a 16 year old girl, and I found this story hilarious. It is funny, a little crude, and somewhat dark. I love Zaphod's character. He is a cyncial zombie, and reading the book from his point of view makes it hilarious. This book really seems to poke fun at today's society--from the teens of today to the way the world works--and I found it very enjoyable. There is some talk of sex/porn and other topics along those lines, but other than that I thought it was a great book. I would love to read more from this author!"
This is a great review. And if you've read the book and HAVEN'T left a review, I think you should write something similar. Or completely different. Or whatever. Just leave a review. Preferably on Amazon. And if you won't do it for me -- the author who poured his heart and soul into a work of creative fiction -- do it for zombie awareness.Nah, I'm just kidding. Do it for me. Please?

There's a growing trend of obtuse misinformation spreading across the internet. More and more people are coming to the incorrect conclusion that the month of May has been designated Zombie Awareness Month.
In fact, as of today, the top hit on Google for "Zombie Awareness Month" leads to this article on Huffington Post (titled "May is Zombie Awareness Month"), which lends an unreasonable amount of validity to this baseless assumption.
Mainstream media is once again co-opting a legitimate cause for their own profit.
FACT NUMBER ONE: Zombies are people, too.
Here at Horbawrong Creative, we have a great deal of empathy for zombies. Mainly because most of us ARE zombies. We can't help it. It's not a lifestyle choice. It's a condition. Like being born a lefty. Or having curly hair.
FACT NUMBER TWO: Every month is Zombie Awareness Month.
Look, we'll admit it: it's nice to have a special month out of twelve to really think about the plight of the undead. BUT THOSE BASTARDS IN THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA JUST WANT TO KILL EVERYBODY. (see "Fact Number One".) Do we really want to support the stereotype of mindless, cannibalistic monsters that may or may not want to eat your brains (they don't)?
When we strip away the stereotypes and misconceptions, we understand that Zombie Awareness Month is about understanding, tolerance, and acceptance of our undead brothers and sisters -- NOT about survival and coming up with ever-more-creative ways to kill innocent (zombiefied) bystanders. And by embracing May as Zombie Awareness Month, not only are we giving further credence to harmful stereotypes, but we're devaluing the real message.
Zombies are people, too.
May IS NOT Zombie Awareness Month. Every month is Zombie Awareness Month. It says so in this comic:
When you're ready to face the truth and look past the hateful stereotypes that have permeated our culture for too long now, take the first step by understanding what it MEANS to be undead by reading this free book by our zombie friend, Zaphod. This book is on the cutting edge of sympathetic zombie awareness and will no doubt change how you think about the living impaired. Download it for free and help spread the word:
Stumble on, true believers.
