The above is a :30 TV spot I cut on spec for the full test drive video I produced for my job at Holler-Classic in Orlando. It is one of a handful of videos I've had the pleasure of producing in the past three and a half months. By all standards, these are among my most professional of videos (standards being qualified as anything you get paid for. Right?).

Click past the break for more video (including the full test drive episode) as well as some more of my senseless pontification.
I should emphasize that the commercial was cut on SPEC, meaning it's not actually on television. Although that would have been way cool (and possibly too much for me to even deal with!). I edited the spot to show my boss what it would look like and also to have a little extra promotional material on YouTube. I haven't gotten a lot of feedback on the commercial, but I've heard plenty of good things about the test drive to know that I'm on to something good.

But speaking of commercials that aren't on TV, here's a spot I shot and produced that IS airing in the Central Florida area:
By now, I hope you've noticed the visual style that all three videos possess. I'd like to say that such visual design language was well-established before I started working, but the fact of the matter is that so much creative work had been shuffled to so many different independent freelancers, the idea of a unified visual style was practically inconceivable.

Is the Brand Spot above great? I have no delusions about that: no. But it is good, and considerably better than the broadcast commercials that preceded it (on television, not the spec Honda spot above). Unfortunately, it's a tough job to make any drastic changes in the field I'm working in, so although I'm aiming for the stars, I'm glad I at least hit the low-hanging rain cloud that this Brand Spot commercial represents. It also means I'm THAT much closer to the stars. Right?
The Driver's Mart Wrap Rap was one of my first full productions for Holler-Classic. It came about by way of an Orlando Predators sponsorship. We needed to get a pickup truck wrapped so that it could be driven on the Predators field at game time. When I heard about this, my first instinct was that it would make a great video. After spending over an hour with the father-son team at WBC Graphics, I cut together the video above. Along with my first full production, this video also features some of the new music I've scored for my production library at Holler-Classic.

Above all, the Wrap Rap has helped define a personal vision: niche videography designed to produce a video a business can use to brand itself online. While I haven't produced any videos like this for an actual client yet, technically I don't really have time to do so. But the idea is there, concept realized, and I'm ready to go as soon as the opportunity presents itself.
I'm not a sports guy by any stretch of the imagination and yet in the past three months I've been to more arena football games than I care to admit and even a golf tournament, all for the purpose of shooting video. Since Holler Driver's Mart is a big sponsor of the Orlando Predators, I have an all-access press pass on game night. I might not know what's happening during the game, but you can't tell me I don't cut together an exciting video. Again, the music is an original piece titled "Predators Fight".

There are a lot more sports videos, but even I get bored of them and think that this one sample more than suffices.
A Mazda2 Love Letter was the first video I shot and cut for Holler-Classic. Obviously, it was just before I had anything better to do. It's not a great video, but it showcases two things: the exciting and unique designs in the automotive industry that I now get to play with every week and, two, I just love editing.

So if there's been any question as to what I've been up to, there you go. It might not be under the purview of Horbawrong Studios but it is, undeniably, creative. And in the long run, isn't that we're all after? Doing something creative and getting paid for it?
