Merry fucking Devilmas!

Okay, so this may be WAY late in the scheme of the Devilmas celebration (really: it's more a state of mind than a time of year!) but, hey, better late than never, right?  If you haven't read the first chapter, go ahead and do that now.

While this story was never really intended for anything specific, I see that it fits this blogging format rather nicely.  I'll be posting new parts for the foreseeable future on Mondays and Wednesday.

"Peter! Peter, over here!" 

The voice that snapped me out of my reverie belonged to a female. At first, I didn't recognize it--partly because my mind was still reeling, trying to process the last thing my companion on the Ferris wheel had said. 

Say hi to Angel for me. Be sure to give her a good scratching behind the ears. 

The confidence I had tapped when I was trying to hook up with the dark-haired woman quickly seeped away and was replaced with an overwhelming confusion. I had never met that woman before in my life. Such an encounter would surely have been memorable. And yet, she knew about Angel. Such an odd twist of events ... 

Had the chance encounter been anything but that? Just chance? Or was the entire interaction with this woman a planned event that she had been conspiring to execute for weeks? Months? Had this woman been spying on me? 

The thoughts circled around in my head, confusing and exciting at the same time. There seemed to be no clear answer at this time and I acknowledged the fact that, while intriguing, this peculiar event probably wasn't going to matter in three days time. In fact, there was little that would matter, and unless my mysterious and dark companion was awaiting me in the parking lot, I doubted that any relevant information would be revealed in time to make a difference.

Whoever said that there wasn't a comfort to be found in inevitability?
