YouTube and Site Updates 06/19/2009
It is certainly convenient that I would reach such a milestone as 500 subscribers so soon after my father's death. And in case you were wondering, I did reapply for partnership back when I first mentioned it last week. Once again, it took them a long time to turn me down, telling me a few days ago that I simply didn't have enough views. Which is fine. I've marked my calendar in August when I'll be applying again. But here we are, 501 subs strong (big thanks to UnluckyMum for being the big 500th!). It's a moment that should feel bigger, but my instincts tell me that in August, my numbers will have dwarfed even this accomplishment. There's much that I want to touch on in this update, not the least of which are the updates to the website. Firstly, you'll have noticed by now the new "Read more" feature in the blog. Yes, I know: most normal blogs have been doing this since the dawn of time. My website is hosted through Weebly.com which provides a complete and easy-to-use web-based editor. This feature of splitting up a blog post is fresh out of the over and greatly, GREATLY appreciated. You've probably noticed my tendency to write lengthly blogs ... now I can continue to write however long I wish and maintain a tidier main page, all the while encouraging you all to drill down even further into the writing and put you face-to-face with the comment button. Hm. He says with a big grin on his face ;) The other thing that's been challenging me is the comics. Zaphod Zombie not only is a pet project of mine, but it's also ironing out kinks before we roll out the Explorers of the Unknown comic (July 7th--mark your calendars!). Since I run my website on the weebly platform, I can't setup a traditional webcomic navigation system. So I'm trying to figure out the best way to publish and archive the comic for easy reading. The best bet, I think, is to setup a separate blog. You'll see it in the navigation bar up top. This is where all the new Zaphod Zombie comics will be posted. I will continue to post alerts and updates on the main page (here) but the actual comic will be found on the Zaphod Zombie blog page. And maybe a quick link to the current comic in the sidebar to the right. Yeah. That sounds good. Back in the YouTube world, I'm currently reposting the Talking Heads minis series. Stay tuned for the new episodes on a daily basis. These episodes were originally produced last year and had their original run on my old channel ... for the select few who or desperately waiting for fresh content, I can tell you that new episodes of Talking Heads are, in fact, coming ... I'm just waiting on Middlebrook ;) Also, I plan on working on the next Apocablog video this weekend, pending available time. In the world of writing, I have returned to Twitter (for those who have missed me in the past week) but my primary writing focus lately will be on Zaphod Zombie scripts. There is another "Brotherhood" style miniseries in pre-production, but I'm waiting on Heather-Maria for that one ;) Yes, being the best damn collaber on YouTube means giving up all-consuming control and waiting patiently on others. Which is fine. I'm working on my patience and indifference and overall calm-enity. Comments06/20/2009 11:42pm
