www.HORBAWRONG.com (creativity's hub)

Today is going to be dedicated to getting back on track.  It's been a nice week and a half (or so) of lazing about and generally doing nothing, but seriously guys: we have active, creative minds that demand progress and productivity.  To slack off in our creative endeavors is to forsake what drives us to wake up in the morning.

Let this be a call to action--a kick in the pants for everyone who just hasn't "felt like it" for the past few days (myself included).

Heather: have you been editing, love?  If not, hop to it!

Ibrahim: you've slacked off on the fourth challenge as much as I have.  Call it, bitch, so I can give out more free stuff.  And remember, your video has to be at least as good as Victor's.  There's a steamy photo in it for you if it's better.  Oh yeah, I went there.

Emily: I have the highest standards for you because I know how great a writer you are.  I'll be posting my plans for you later, as well as repeating them in the new krumbinesBRAIN when I upload that.

Jez: You are fucking PACKING up your life and getting ready to hit the road for a year!  You can't muster up any sort of chronicling of this experience?!  Also, was there any follow up on the Cecil project?  If there's no interest in it, that's cool.

BillO: You're the biggest, laziest, sonofabitch of them all!  Okay, maybe I just said that for effect and didn't really mean it, but I'll draw you're attention to Emily's note for your action as well.

Middlebrook: Get off your lazy ass, get back on YouTube, and make a new Middlebrook's Advice.  I'm beginning to forget how the theme song goes.

TO EVERYONE: Today marks the first birthday of Talking Heads.  To celebrate, I would like everyone to make a video simply saying why they like the show.  I'll be posting a krumbinesBRAIN episode tonight for which you can add your videos as responses.  Shortly after I collect a good number of videos, there will be a massive Talking Heads Anniversary video, featuring all of your comments.

Finally, I'm elevating the challenge series to a new level with something I'm calling "Apocablog".  Like I said, this one is for you Emily (BillO, take note!).  Apocablog is the epitome of a creative challenge.  You're goal is to create a character who is living in the end of times.  It can be a meteor impacting the earth, a zombie apocalypse, or even the good lord himself, smiting his creation ... you create a character who is vlogging the end of days.  I challenge you to take your time with this project and craft something as creative and compelling as possible ... and your goal is to up the ante once a week, as the end grows ever nearer.

That's Apocablog ... and it's starts next Wednesday.  I'll post a script I wrote so you can get a better idea of what the concept is, but the idea is to invent your own character and your own set of circumstances.

And now, after much debate and agonizing over the comments, I've decided that the winner of my random give-away will be Em, TheStarvingSoprano.  Email me your shipping address and I'll send you a copy of the book!  Also, if you've been on the fence about buying a book, I'd emphatically encourage you to do so--I'm only $2.50 shy of receiving my first remission payment for the book sales!

As always: stay creative!

End of days? You've tickled my fancy amongst other things >.>

Let's not go there.

Anywho, would this be everyone in the same world under the same circumstances or do we all have different apocalyptic visions?

I'm actually excited!

Voice! Come back! I need you! Or not, I mean, maybe my character became a chain smoker during the end of days?

ACK! NO! CREATIVITY OVERWHELMING BRAIN!

My vision is that everyone has a different story and different circumstances ... in other words, I don't want to inhibit your creativity in any way. Will everything that's taking place be part of larger, grander story?

Hell, yes.

Parp!

On fire is right. I think reading this post gave me a heart murmer - all very stimulating!

I've got all kinds of plans concerning my YouTube account, for when I leave London, to start chronicling my experiences. The first month may not be THAT blistering as I'll be rehearsing in the same place (though there IS the outside chance of some dino-porn!). However, come the start of July, I'll be in a different city each week, all over Europe, for 10 months. So, every week there'll be at least a vlog about how things are going and a video-digest of each city, as well as all the usual YT gubbins: collabs, challenges, silly vids, etc. Remember, before I leave the UK I'm getting myself a Macbookpro and a PROPER videocamera.
I had also thought about starting a vlog and I s'pose you're right - I should start it sooner rather than later and start chronicling the packup (what's left of it). The only question is: which site do I station my vlog on? Blogger, Blogspot, Wordpress, etc. I shall address this issue tonight.

Re: Cecil. I'm really sorry, I haven't even had a chance to discuss it with James but I don't think we would've been able to find the time anyway. I'll always be open to the idea so, If nothing's happened with it in a year's time when I'm (possibly) back in London, I'll certainly have another look at it.

'Apocablog' is a fuckin awesome idea! I love it. I'm fuckin on it! I've already started having ideas (I'm secretly a bit of an Apocafreak when it comes to matters both literary and cinematic).

Once again, you are a pushy source of fuckin rad inspiration! I love it.

@Novanine: I recommend using weebly.com (which this website is based on) as it will give not only give you a place to blog, but also provide plenty of room to grow in your web-based creative endeavors. Weebly is a turnkey, very easy to use website creator, not just a blogging service. My two cents on that subject.

No worries about Cecil ... it was a fleeting idea inspired by your incredible acting abilities. It's not going anywhere; you are.

@Krumbine
D'oh!! I was waiting for you to tell me when I'm supposed to announce the result! I'll go do it now.. *grumble grumble*

Will also have a marathon recording session tonight, which will include TH44, Reply to Ben's tribute and TH Birthday Comment Vid. You've got me all fired up at the prospect of Steamy Picture.

@Jez
Dude if weebly.com is too much for your requirements, I BEG you to choose Wordpress. Blogger has fucked me up so many times in the past I've lost count.

Oh and by the way, Apocablog is what I've been waiting for. It's my destiny. I shall immerse myself in it.

So wait im confused, is this a video challenge or a writing challenge? i have an idea already, something ive had on my mind for a while now that fits perfectly. And yes my editing skills are improving by the minute. I just got the last bit of footage from karina today so ladies night will be up soon. :) you know krumbine, this episode is the first talking-heads style collab that you have not written or been involved in. im a little worried about the expectation level. but so far im lovin it, so hopefully you will too.

if it goes over well, i fully expect a steamy autographed picture too!

@Krunbine and Ibrahim. Thanks for the suggestions guys, will look at both sites.

@denitson777. Ha! You could be right. TH is an international phenomenon... as is swine flu! And, while we're making it a scapegoat, I think TH may also be indirectly responsible for my laryngitis, my poor financial situation and my ongoing failure with women.

@Heather Maria. VERY excited about this ladies night! The prospect of an all female TH style collab makes me all warm and squidgy inside. I think it jogs into life latent fantasies of Amazonian women who domin... er, never mind. Seriously though, You, Kat and Jen are three of my favourite ladies on YT. I didn't know Karina but massively enjoyed her bud and bong saturated vids and am now a subscriber.

@Heather Maria and Krumbine. I obviously can't speak for Jordan but I took it to be a video challenge. Maybe there should be a distinction between ApocaBlog and ApocaVlog!

@Heather: I'm looking forward to Ladies Night and also checking out your editing style! Apocablog is a video challenge, but certainly can be adapted as a writing challenge, if you prefer. Essentially, however, the idea remains the same as the original challenge series: to write a script for a video. So it's kind of both. Maybe. I dunno?

@Ibrahim: I didn't have time to watch your results video ... sorry! I will give it my undivided attention as soon as I get home today. And I'm glad Apocablog appeals to you as much as it does! I've been sitting on the idea for a while now and I'm very happy that it's getting such a good reception.

RE Swine Flu: I expect SOMEONE to use that as the basis for their Apocablog. If you don't, I will be VERY disappointed.

RE Steamy Pictures: I pretty much have to have a photo session now, huh?

Wonderful! I'm excited to see what you come up with. I expect it will feature the shirtless hairy geek? (For some reason, I've been oddly disappointed when I watch your videos and see you wearing a shirt. Hm ...)
