"The human spirit is, in a word, indefatigable.  It is driven by passion and it thrives on conflict. If an individual's life is devoid of these things, surely the person has no spirit."

Production of the Explorers of the Unknown comic continues and we're getting closer and closer to the debut.  I'd tell you when that is, specifically, if not for the fact that I don't know just yet.  Maybe about two weeks.

We'll see.

I know I haven't been writing much lately--neither here nor on twitter--and I think it's pretty obvious why.  Between all-consuming projects like the Apocablog and the dino-hunters, and then slowly slipping into my second job (which, if you count the creative work, is actually my third job) ... I've just been busy as hell.  And tired, too.

But of course these are just excuses that we all recycle over and over and over again, both in our written blogs and in our videos on youtube ... when in fact, the truth is that as far as excuses go, they're pretty lame.

The other truth is that I'm horribly behind on other productions.  I also have a book review that I shot at least two weeks ago that I've neglected to post because I don't want to detract from the Apocablog or dino videos right now.

That's actually a question I'd like some input on: how many videos do you keep up with on a daily basis?  How many videos are too many to post in a single day?  Do multiple blog posts inhibit your enjoyment factor the way multiple video posts might?

It's coming ... oh, yes ... it's coming.  Above is a quick shot of Chris.  Dig it with a shovel, baby.

Today, I have a handful of small things to mention, brief items that will invariably lead to much longer and rambly vlogs later on in the day (read: late tonight).

The first thing I'll draw your attention to is the picture up in the corner of this post.  Yes, that's your second official tease of the upcoming Explorers of the Unknown webcomic.  We're doing it right this time, so it's important to take our time with the production.  Until the project goes live, I'll be sharing with you little snippets of art, here and there.

Secondly, I'm cooking up an exiting end-project for the first round of apocablogs.  As such, I would like to formally request that all the participants send me your original video.  To do this, I need you to create an account with blip.tv, upload your video, and then send me the link to the page (my email is jordancg at gmail dot com).  I'm asking for you to use blip.tv because blip allows me to download your original video file, in its original quality.

Finally, I would also like to request that anyone who has read one of the books, please take a moment to go to the book page on lulu.com to rate and leave a short review.  For those who have already done this (BigMackZach), you have my most sincerest gratitude.

In addition to censoring comments in public forums, another upcoming of conversation will be writer's block and whether or not the problem arises from writing the wrong material.

Stay creative, guys!

VIDEO RESPONSES

You'll notice that I'm pushing video responses for KB04 on twitter pretty hard.  I'm doing this for two reasons:

1) The more people who post their birthday wishes and why they like Talking Heads, the better the Talking Heads Birthday Collab video will be.

2) More video responses will drive it up the most-responded list.  Which means more exposure.  And we all know what an attention-whore I am.

If you haven't done so yet, please post a short video response.  It can be a long and detailed explanation of why you like Talking Heads and how it's impacted your (YouTube) life, or it can be as brief as wishing the show happy birthday.

EOTU

I'm very happy to reveal a quick taste of a project that has literally been years in the making.  There have been more false starts to this project than I care to count, but I'm delighted to say that things are official, now.

Explorers of the Unknown, like you've never seen them before, is coming soon.

VERY soon.

tj&Js and EotU 01/18/2009

First and foremost we have a new installment in the Jordan & Jordan Show series ... I'm calling it a retrospective piece because it comes after four teasers.  In fact, to truly appreciate this one video, I've put together a convenient playlist that combines all of the tJ&Js videos into one place.  View it now:

Secondly, I've got a personal update video coming where I also share about some of unnatural love for technology.  You probably won't like it.

Thirdly, I'm heading up to Orlando tomorrow to meet up with Josh and work on the EotU animated comic.  He's been working off of thumbnails I hashed out some time ago, so we'll pound out a few more of those so that he knows where the story is going, visually.

It's interesting to note a few things about this EotU project:

1) I had an epiphany the other day and realized how happy I was to just see this project come to fruition.  I've worked on it as a comic book, a webcomic, a screenplay, and I never thought I would really ever come as close as I am now to truly visualizing this story as I had imagined it.  I say all of this because generally, in the back of my head (or dramatically at the front, as the case may be), I'm usually trying to figure out how many people will watch this and how popular it will get so as that I might finally get a "break".  When it comes to the Explorers of the Unknown animated comic, I am truly 100% satisfied with just seeing this damn beast come to life.

2) Josh has found a rhythm and hit his stride.  We're two weeks into the illustrating process and he's been consistent and reliable.

3) It now looks like a third person may be coming into the fold to help with the coloring of the panels.  It's too early to tell if this project will have the same effect as Talking Heads, but I'm curious to see if more people start offering their skills and talents to the production.

Josh Todd is responsible for the graphic to the right.  He's also the guy producing the artwork for the EotU animated comic.  Eventually, I plan to have him produce some cover art for the EotU:Zombies! book.

But, as I've learned with most people, I mustn't push him too hard.  Baby steps, after all.

Let it not go unsaid, however, that Josh is an outstanding artist and I am honored to have this opportunity to collaborate with him on such a unique project.
