I meant to do this a while ago, but I think I was secretly waiting for more people to post their reviews.  They never did, so I decided to get busy.  If you've read Videorama, feel free to post your thoughts in the comments!

                                                A Youtube Cautionary Tale 12/18/2008

Quick thought: I forgot to post Middlebrook's J&Js teaser last night ... go watch it on his channel.

Yesterday also revealed to the world the interview/collab that I mentioned earlier.  When I got the notice that it was posted, I was firmly seated at work and thus unable to watch it myself.  The message the alerted me sent me into a spinning panic:

"I hope you enjoy it in all of its beautiful and flawed grandeur."

Holy FUCK.  "Flawed grandeur"?  What the fuck is that supposed to mean?  I sent this guy nothing but motherfucking solid gold material to work with!  So I start panicking--did he not edit the material?  Did edit so much that it's all out of context?  WHAT THE FUCK DID HE DO TO MY FOOTAGE?!?!?!

Clearly, unable to view this video at work, I did what any sane person would do: I tried to get it to load on my cell phone.  The farthest I got was the description of the video.  And that didn't help my panicked mind, either.

The next thing I did was try to hunt down someone with an iPhone.  What the fuck ever--you'd think that since that damn phone is so popular, it'd be an easier task to find someone with one, right?!  No dice ...

I sent an email to Middlebrook (did you watch his J&Js teaser yet?!) telling him the video was up and to report back.

You know, in case you're living under a rock, it might help to know the definition of "horbawrong".  Fortunately, I have it defined here.  My point being, the word horbawrong was invented for videos like this interview/collab fiasco.

                                                Middlebrook informed me of such.

One of my co-workers gets out an hour earlier than me.  She runs home to watch the video for herself and starts a live-commentary on it over email.

This only served to further deepen my panic.

Cut to the end of the day, I finally get home and watch this video for myself.  And I couldn't even get through a full minute of it.  From what I saw, he didn't edit any of my footage and while I fear my raw footage audio might not have been as great as it could have been, whatever he did to it made it considerably worse.

The moral of the story?  Don't do a McCain--fully vet all parties that are involved with your work.  No matter how much of a whore you are for attention.

It's a thriller at 160 characters a page--that's right, it's a story told through text messages.  This could possibly be classified as a novelty book, but truth be told is that it is the most unique publication you will ever see.

When I finished writing this thing, I was extremely dubious about whether or not it would even be worthwhile to people.  I printed up two "pre-production" copies of the book and circulated it around to people who's opinion I trusted.  This is what I learned:

It is a quick read--but then it's supposed to be.  Out of four people, only one didn't "get" it.  The others called it "innovative", "frightening", and "a real page-turner".

If for no other reason, you should buy the book simply because you'll never see another one like it (until I write the next one, that is ;).  Read it, share it with your friends, and then send me an email telling me what you thought.

And what's really funny is that you'll probably see them from other people before you see my new videos.  Maybe.  I'm underestimating the laziness of others.

                                                Or something like that.

Look, the point is that I've completed taping for a few collab projects, spearheaded by people OTHER than myself (wild idea, huh??).  The first was for Heather-Maria (misspacman08) and is officially WAY overdue.  Go leave a comment on her profile asking where the collab video is.

The second collab comes courtesy of wet-behind-the-ears youtuber TheJDiesel.  He emails me out of the blue, asking if he can interview me for his channel and me, ever ready to whore myself out for attention, immediately wrote back "Fuck yeah, send me the damn questions already!".  I'm sending him my footage as I write this.

Meanwhile, work on the J&Js is underway and you'll see some teasers in a bit ... moreover, I'm waiting on footage from Heather-Maria (again with her damn laziness!!!) for the next episode of krumbinesBRAIN.

And that's about it.  Go sub splitendsblog.  And leave me a comment saying how much you want me.

I am very proud to annouce SplitEndsBlog.com--a joint project I've been working on with the two ladies above (Sam and Kendra).  It's an advice column style blog and the video up there is the premiere video.

The video was a blast to tape and to edit ... there was about 40 minutes of footage that was edited down to a lean 8:20.  Challenging, but definitely fun.  Not to mention the fact that there was just nothing bad at all about working with those two ladies.

I have no doubt that these women are going to be on a fast track to stardom.  Subscriber to their channel, bookmark their website, and remember to send in your questions!

It's officially been one month since I had to delete my old account and start fresh in my new home at youtube.com/krumbine.  I won't go into the details of why I had to close my old account--that's a story for another time--but I will take a moment to thank everyone who's been so supportive.

Anybody who is even remotely familiar with the youtube game, knows how important your subscribers are.  Without subscribers, you're just a wandering soul, uploading videos for no one to see.

In the two-some years of my old account, I worked slowly and tediously to a ballpark of 130 subscribers.  A small number, compared to the thousands upon thousands of true youtube celebrities, but a respectable number for a nobody, hell-bent on producing an internet show (or three).

I try to not get too obsessed with the numbers ... as Emily is quick to remind me, it's quality, not quantity, when it comes to subscribers.  Starting fresh on the krumbine channel proved that.  While I lost virtually all of my subs (I was unable to advertise the new channel on the old one ... that would have been a violation of the conditions) every single new subscriber I found through the krumbine channel was a fresh, new, dedicated face, eager to be involved with what was happening in my corner of the internet.

In a single month, I've discovered 73 of these people.  And I have no doubt that with the help of each and every one of you, next month we'll find 73 more.

                                                Thanks.
